Fly Girls Face Off: Rosie Perez vs Jennifer Lopez
You can take the girls out of New York City but you can't take NYC out of the girls! Puerto Rican rivalries are all the rage on the blogs as actor, dancer, choreographer, and writer, Rosie Perez, dishes on the 20-year-old dirt between herself and Pop Star Diva, Jennifer Lopez.
According to the Miami Herald, Perez is spilling the "T" all over the seats as she talks about how Jenny from the block was a "ghetto biatch" even before she made it big. In her new book Handbook for an Unpredictable Life, being released Feb 25, Perez says that when she met Lopez back in the 90's, she was rooting for her as she auditioned for the soon to be hit show, In Living Color. Perez writes that creator and host of the show, Keenan Ivory Wayans, wasn't impressed intially with Lopez during her audition and took some convincing from Perez to allow her to join the cast. The condition? That Lopez cut her hair and lose 20 pounds.
Life as a Fly Girl was no easy streak as Perez says that the other girls were constantly in her office complaining about the Diva-antics that Lopez continued to portray; manipulating people and circumstances to her own advantage, inlcuding Perez!
In talking about Lopez going off on her, Perez writes that Lopez was like,
“some ghetto biatch, screaming and pounding her chest!"
Perez also writes that Lopez was quoted as saying,
“You pick on me, me and only me, every f–king day! Every f–king day! I work my ass off, deliver and you keep pushing me aside, treating me like sh-t! I know I’m good! I’m better than any of these girls, and you know it.”
Jennifer left the show after two seasons but apparently after hitting it big with her own stardom still hadn't let go of the beef between her and Rosie. Perez says that Jenny made some negative comments against her and when Perez tried to contact Lopez about it she did indeed leave a not-so-nice voicemail after being ignored; Lopez then went on a television show and blasted Perez about the voicemail. Months later Jenny saw Perez at an event and porceeded to be cordial but Perez admits that she was still upset at the unsettling situation and let her sharp tongue do ALL the talking.
We highly doubt that this book will do any damage to the empire that the Bronx native has built and in all actuality the passages about the two of them will probably be just a chapter or two at best. In any event we applaud Rosie for putting it out there!!!! DISH Rosie, DISH!!!
