We fell in love with her as Olivia on The Cosby Show. We saw her mature as Raven Baxter on That's So Raven. Now we're learning Raven-Symone all over again as a women with some extremely controversial comments that continue to set social media ablaze!
While co-hosting on daytime show, The View, Symone questioned whether or not a Univision presenter, who was fired for a remark against First Lady, Michelle Obama, was actually made in a racist manner. Ex-presenter, Rodner Figueroa, was fired for making a comment liking FLOTUS to a character from the Planet of the Apes film while discussing a make-up artist who can make himself look like any celebrity using only make-up. The Empire guest star asked the panel,
"Was he saying it racist-like? Because he said that he voted for her later, and I don’t think he was saying it racist."
Raven went on to say,
"Michelle, don’t fire me from this right now, but some people look like animals...I look like a bird. So can I be mad if somebody calls me Toucan Sam?"
Co-host, Rosie Perez made her opinion very clear with her response,
"I am the Latin person here on this table, and I would like to tell you that it was racist, period...You do not disrespect the First Lady of our country."
This hasn't been the first time Raven-Symone has seen the backlash for her comments. In a 2014 interview with Oprah she also recieved major backlash for saying that she doesn't consider herself an African-American, she's simply American. She sat with E! News, Alicia Quarles, to talk about some of her controversial statements and why she feels the way she does.
Needless to say Raven has some strong opinions that make people very angry, however, she implores people to really get the full story of what she's saying before jumping to judge her.
See the full epsiode of The View below and weigh in on what you think about Raven's opinion.
